CWB95 (3-pole 95 A)

WEG · CWB 80–95 A frame

Top of the compact CWB range — covers 25–60 HP compressors and wye-delta line/delta duties. Beyond this frame WEG steps to the CWB125+ and CWBS safety-rated variants for safety-circuit duty.

Coil data
Available coil voltages
Suffix-coded coil: 24, 120, 208–240, 480 VAC 50/60 Hz; electronic wide-range options
Inrush VA
≈ 350 VA
Sealed (holding) VA
≈ 22 VA
Pickup voltage
≥ 80% of rated
Dropout voltage
≈ 40–65% of rated
Typical measured coil resistance (±15%, ballpark)
24 VAC≈ 3–7 Ω
120 VAC≈ 40–90 Ω
480 VAC≈ 600–1,100 Ω

OL = open coil · near zero = shorted turns · coil-to-frame must read >1 MΩ.

Coil resistance checker

Pick the coil voltage, enter your meter reading across A1–A2 (coil disconnected), and compare it to the expected ballpark.

Ω
This model (24 VAC table value)3 Ω7 Ω
Generic mid-frame 24 VAC4 Ω9 Ω

OL = open coil. 0–2 Ω = shorted turns (often from a cooked transformer). Ballpark only (±15%+); electronic wide-range coils (e.g. ABB AF) read misleading values — test those at rated voltage instead. Always measure coil-to-frame too: must be >1 MΩ.

Terminals & accessories
Power/coil terminals: L1–L3 top, T1–T3 bottom; lug terminals to 50 mm² / 1/0 AWG; coil front
Auxiliary contacts: 2 built-in aux (NO+NC); front and side blocks expand to 6 total
Companion overload: RW117 thermal overload (separate-mount on this frame); or electronic motor protection relay for wye-delta

Field notes
  • In wye-delta sets, size the delta contactor at 0.58 × motor FLA and the wye contactor at 0.33 × — a like-for-like 95 A on all three is oversized but safe.
  • For safety-circuit (mirror-contact) applications, spec the CWBS variant — the standard CWB aux contacts are not mechanically linked per IEC 60947-4-1 Annex F.
  • Coil inrush ≈ 350 VA will sag a marginal control transformer — size the transformer for inrush, not sealed VA.
