XTCE032C (32 A, frame C)
Eaton / Cutler-Hammer · XT frame C
32 A XT IEC contactor — the 20 HP @ 460 V frame, and the usual delta contactor in Eaton-built wye-delta compressor starters.

Coil data
- Available coil voltages
- 24, 120, 208, 240, 277, 480, 600 VAC; 24 VDC; wide-range electronic on select PNs
- Inrush VA
- ≈ 140 VA
- Sealed (holding) VA
- ≈ 12 VA
- Pickup voltage
- 0.85–1.1 × rated
- Dropout voltage
- 0.2–0.6 × rated
Typical measured coil resistance (±15%, ballpark)
24 VAC≈ 4–10 Ω
120 VAC≈ 100–220 Ω
240 VAC≈ 450–850 Ω
480 VAC≈ 1,800–3,500 Ω
OL = open coil · near zero = shorted turns · coil-to-frame must read >1 MΩ.
Coil resistance checker
Pick the coil voltage, enter your meter reading across A1–A2 (coil disconnected), and compare it to the expected ballpark.
Ω
This model (24 VAC table value)4 Ω–10 Ω
Generic mid-frame 24 VAC4 Ω–9 Ω
OL = open coil. 0–2 Ω = shorted turns (often from a cooked transformer). Ballpark only (±15%+); electronic wide-range coils (e.g. ABB AF) read misleading values — test those at rated voltage instead. Always measure coil-to-frame too: must be >1 MΩ.
Terminals & accessories
Power/coil terminals: Box lug to 25 mm² / 4 AWG
Auxiliary contacts: 1 built-in; XTCEXFA front and XTCEXSA side blocks
Companion overload: XTOB bimetallic or XTOE electronic, direct-mount

Field notes
- XT frame B and C accessories are not interchangeable — check the frame letter before grabbing a spare aux block.
- XTOE electronic overloads need the correct CT window pass-through count on small motors; two passes doubles the sensed current.
- If the contactor buzzes only when the compressor's dryer heater is on, you have transformer sag, not a contactor fault.
