Pilot solenoid feeding the Sullair spiral/blowdown valve and inlet valve on LS and ShopTek units.
Also called: SV1 · control solenoid LS series
De-energised state: NC
How it works
Sullair machines pilot the inlet (butterfly or poppet) valve and the blowdown valve from one control solenoid. Energised routes sump air to open the inlet; de-energised vents the actuator and opens blowdown.
Coil resistance (typical, cold DC)
| Coil voltage | Resistance | Hold | Inrush |
|---|---|---|---|
| 120 VAC | 250 – 550 Ω | — | — |
| 24 VDC | 28 – 55 Ω | — | — |
Typical values for the stated wattage class. Always compare against the coil tag. Open circuit = burnt winding; near 0 Ω = shorted turns.

Field test procedure
- Verify the control air strainer first — Sullair's 1/4" pilot line is small and plugs with varnish.
- Ohm the coil, then apply rated voltage on the bench and listen for the armature click.
Symptoms & probable causes
- Loads on start-up then falls offLeaking actuator diaphragm or restricted pilot supply.
- Blowdown constantly hissing while loadedControl solenoid seat leaking to exhaust.
