Pilot solenoid controlling the inlet valve on Quincy QGS, QGV and QSI rotary screw packages.
De-energised state: NC
How it works
Energised solenoid passes separator-tank air to the inlet valve piston to open it. On unload the valve vents the piston and the inlet valve closes under spring force while the blowdown orifice bleeds the sump.
Coil resistance (typical, cold DC)
| Coil voltage | Resistance | Hold | Inrush |
|---|---|---|---|
| 120 VAC | 250 – 550 Ω | — | — |
| 230 VAC | 1,100 – 2,400 Ω | — | — |
Typical values for the stated wattage class. Always compare against the coil tag. Open circuit = burnt winding; near 0 Ω = shorted turns.

Field test procedure
- Meter for coil voltage during a commanded load, then ohm the coil cold.
- On QGV variable-displacement machines confirm the turn valve actuator is not the real fault before condemning the solenoid.
Symptoms & probable causes
- Low delivered pressureInlet valve only partly opening — weak pilot pressure or worn piston seal.
