The commercial/light-industrial Pumptrol. Unlike the FHG, the Type G has a true adjustable differential screw as well as the range adjustment, higher electrical ratings for direct motor control, and a 3/8 in. NPT port.

Adjustment

  1. Set the cut-out with the range nut first, then open or close the gap with the differential screw.
  2. Clockwise on the differential screw widens the gap between cut-in and cut-out.
  3. Re-check cut-out after every differential change — the two adjustments interact on most builds.
Before you open the cover

Kill power at the disconnect and lock out. Bleed the tank to 0 psi. Never set cut-out above the tank data-plate MAWP. Verify your numbers first in the cut-in / cut-out calculator.

Best fit

  • High-pressure recips above the 230 psi FHG ceiling
  • Jobs where you must dial in the differential to fix short cycling
  • Wash-down or outdoor locations needing NEMA 4

Watch out

  • 3/8 in. port — you will need a bushing to land it on 1/4 in. compressor plumbing.
  • Adjustable differential invites over-adjustment. Log the original settings before you touch anything.
