Readings 2× high usually mean heat damage and a coil near end of life. Ballpark only (±15%+); electronic wide-range coils (e.g. ABB AF) read misleading values — test those at rated voltage instead. Always measure coil-to-frame too: must be >1 MΩ.

Field notes
- The classic ohm-meter coil test is meaningless on AF coils — the electronics inside skew the reading. Voltage test only.
- One -13 coil covers 110, 120, 208, 230 and 240 V control circuits: stock one SKU and walk away from coil-voltage guesswork.
