Sigma Air Manager 4.0 (SAM 4.0)
Plant master, not a compressor controller — pairs with Sigma Control 2 on each machine. Best-in-class for multi-unit Kaeser fleets.
Manufacturer
Kaeser
Display
12-inch color touchscreen with adaptive 3D pressure-band control.
Years produced
~2016 – present.
Power supply
24 VDC, 12-inch color touchscreen master controller.
Ambient range

- Energy KPI logging & auditor-friendly reports
- SIGMA SMART AIR remote monitoring
Interfaces
- Ethernet (Sigma Network to compressors)
- Modbus TCP / Profinet / EtherNet/IP (upstream to plant BMS)
- OPC UA server (option)
- USB & SD data logging
Sensor inputs
- Multiple line pressure transducers
- Flow (option)
- Dewpoint (dryer skid)
- Power meters (SAM Logistics option)
Common fault codes
First checks
- Verify Ethernet cable & switch
- Check compressor controller is powered & on network
- Re-scan network in SAM setup
First checks
- Confirm 4–20 mA loop
- Isolate & verify transducer with hand pump
First checks
- Restore network to affected unit
- Review network log for cause
Fault list is non-exhaustive and firmware-dependent. Always confirm against the controller’s on-screen help or OEM manual.
Wiring notes
- Dedicated managed Ethernet switch for Sigma Network — do NOT share with plant LAN
- Static IPs per compressor set in each controller
- Isolate BMS Modbus/Profinet with a firewall or gateway
Known issues & field notes
- Firmware upgrades require matched Sigma Control 2 firmware on downstream units
- Confusing when third-party compressors are added via dry-contact only — you lose predictive features on those units
User levels: Operator, Technician, Service. Default technician PIN is often 12345 on new commissioning but IS typically changed. Service level is Kaeser-only.
