Readings 2× high usually mean heat damage and a coil near end of life. Ballpark only (±15%+); electronic wide-range coils (e.g. ABB AF) read misleading values — test those at rated voltage instead. Always measure coil-to-frame too: must be >1 MΩ.

Field notes
- ESP200 trip class selector: Class 10 for standard motors, Class 20 for high-inertia recip starts. Wrong class = nuisance trips or cooked motor.
- After a trip, ESP200 needs a cool-down too — the test/reset button does nothing for the first minute. Normal.
