Xe-145M / Xe-145F

Direct successor to Intellisys on R-Series mid-frame. Sensor layout is largely carried over from Intellisys, so field wiring is familiar, but the I/O connectors and firmware setpoints are all new.

Manufacturer
Ingersoll Rand
Display
5-inch color TFT, membrane keypad + soft keys (Xe-145M) or full 8-inch touch (Xe-145F).
Years produced
~2016 – present.
Power supply
24 VDC internal, 100–240 VAC package transformer.
Ambient range
0 – 46 °C.
Protection rating
IP54 front (NEMA 12 enclosure).
Relay outputs
Star/delta or Y-∆ closed transition, load solenoid, blowdown, dryer, common alarm, remote-run, condensate drain.

Common fault codes
First checks
  • Cooler cleanliness & fan
  • Coolant level & thermostatic valve
  • Verify PT1000 resistance vs table
First checks
  • Motor cooling airflow
  • Load / duty cycle
  • Test PT100 continuity
First checks
  • Reset overload
  • Verify FLA & phase balance
  • Check for airend drag
First checks
  • Verify 3 phases at disconnect
  • Check phase-monitor relay
  • Swap two phases for rotation
First checks
  • Verify unload setpoint & deadband
  • Inlet valve closes fully?
  • MPCV bypass on VSD units
First checks
  • Inspect harness & shield
  • Test sensor against reference
First checks
  • Check RS-485 wiring & termination
  • Verify drive powered & node address
  • Reflash drive parameters if replaced

Fault list is non-exhaustive and firmware-dependent. Always confirm against the controller’s on-screen help or OEM manual.

Wiring notes
  • 24 VDC control power from onboard PSU — do not backfeed from customer 24 V
  • Sensor harness uses shielded cable — ground shield at controller end only
  • VSD packages use RS-485 (Modbus RTU) to the drive — 120 Ω termination at both ends
Terminal & connector map

Pinouts distilled from OEM wiring diagrams. Exact silk-screen labels and pin numbering vary by hardware revision and package options — always confirm against the machine’s as-built wiring diagram before landing a wire.

Connectors to the controller
  • X1 – 24 VDC control power from unit PSU
  • X2 – PT1000 / PT100 temperature harness (airend, motor, injection)
  • X3 – 4–20 mA transducer harness (package, sump, optional ambient)
  • X4 – digital outputs to starter or drive enable (main, star, delta, blowdown, load)
  • X5 – digital inputs (remote start/stop, E-stop, sequencer, condensate float)
  • X6 – Modbus RTU (RS-485) to VSD and/or sequenced machines
  • X7 – Ethernet RJ45 for Modbus TCP and web dashboard
Known issues & field notes
  • Early firmware could false-trip "VSD Communication Loss" — update to latest revision
  • Membrane keypad on Xe-145M susceptible to solvent damage — clean with IPA only
  • USB port on front panel is service-only — do NOT leave a stick installed for logging

Two access levels above operator: Technician (customer) and Service (IR only). Default technician PIN is often 2003 on new commissioning but MUST be changed. Service-level access is IR-locked and cannot be reset in the field.
