Electronic (IFM / Turck / Wika) · Solid-state pressure switch
IFM PN / Turck PS / Wika PSD series
Electronic pressure switches replace the mechanical diaphragm with a ceramic or piezoresistive cell plus solid-state outputs. You get a digital display, programmable setpoints and hysteresis, plus a 4–20 mA or IO-Link output to a controller — no moving contacts to weld or drift.
Specifications
- Action
- Standard — contacts open on rising pressure
- Adjustable range
- Programmable within the sensor span, e.g. 0–232 psi or 0–360 psi
- Differential
- Programmable hysteresis or window mode (adjustable)
- Factory settings
- Programmed at commissioning
- Ports
- 1/4 in. NPT or G1/4 process connection
- Unloader
- None
- Lever / disconnect
- None
- Enclosure
- IP65 / IP67 typical
- Temperature
- -13 °F to 176 °F typical media range
Electrical
- Typically 18–30 VDC supply
- PNP/NPN transistor outputs, 250 mA max — pilot a relay, never a motor
- Optional 4–20 mA or 0–10 V analog output; IO-Link on current models
Size against motor full-load amps with the motor amperage calculator, and check feeder sizing with the voltage drop calculator.
Adjustment
- Set SP (switch point) and rP (reset point) in the menu; hysteresis is the difference between them.
- Choose window mode if you need an alarm both above and below a band.
- Damp the reading if the display flickers on a pulsing recip line.
Before you open the cover
Kill power at the disconnect and lock out. Bleed the tank to 0 psi. Never set cut-out above the tank data-plate MAWP. Verify your numbers first in the cut-in / cut-out calculator.
Best fit
- Retrofitting a controller input
- Applications needing a readout and an alarm point
- High cycle counts that destroy mechanical contacts
Watch out
- The output cannot switch a motor or a large contactor coil directly — it drives a relay or a PLC input only.
- 24 VDC supply is required; there is no 120 V version of most of these.
