BOGE TOP control 1 / 2 (legacy)
Treat TOP control as a retrofit candidate. Sensors are non-interchangeable with focus control — plan a full sensor and harness kit when quoting the upgrade.
Manufacturer
BOGE
Display
TOP control 1: LED / 7-segment; TOP control 2: 2-line LCD with keypad.
Years produced
~1996 – 2010. Replaced by focus control.
Power supply
24 VDC or 230 VAC control transformer depending on frame.
Ambient range
0 – 45 °C.
Protection rating
IP54 front.
Relay outputs
Star / delta / main, blowdown, alarm.
Replaced by
focus control (1.0)
Used on
- BOGE S-Series (1990s–2000s)
- BOGE SD/SF legacy packages
- BOGE C-Series early
Features
- Load/unload control
- Hour meter
- Basic service timer
- Base-load changeover with the optional module
Interfaces
- Volt-free alarm & run contacts
- Optional RS-485 base-load module
Sensor inputs
- Airend discharge temp (PT100/PT1000)
- Sump pressure switch or transducer
- Motor PTC
Fault code lookup
First checks
- Coolant, cooler, thermal valve
- Verify PT sensor against a thermocouple
First checks
- Reset the OL relay in the panel
- Check contactor pitting — a welded star contactor is common at this age
First checks
- Phase sequence at the disconnect
- Phase monitor relay is a frequent failure on these panels
First checks
- Mechanical pressure switch calibration
- Inlet valve / unloader
First checks
- Perform kit; reset timer per manual key sequence
Fault list is non-exhaustive and firmware-dependent. Always confirm against the controller’s on-screen help or OEM manual.
Sensor pin resistance & signal values
Pin-level resistance and signal values for the sensor types this controller uses. Works offline. De-energise the panel and lift one lead before ohming any element.
Wiring notes
- Electromechanical star-delta timing on many frames — verify the transition timer before condemning the controller
- Original wiring uses numbered ferrules that match the panel schematic in the door pocket; photograph before disturbing
Known issues & field notes
- Boards are long obsolete — repair usually means a full retrofit to focus control 2.0 or a generic controller (e.g. Logika / MAM-6080-style) with new sensors
- Electrolytic caps on the power board dry out and cause random resets on hot days
Service level entered as a key combination (hold Enter + arrow at power-up on TOP control 2); dealer-specific numeric code follows.
