Compressor not running (contactor / cap / internal overload)

CheckAmp draw at contactor load side; listen for hum.
FixReplace contactor or run capacitor. If windings hot and open, let cool; if won't reset, compressor is dead.

Restricted metering device / plugged TXV

high
CheckSuction low, liquid line frosting near TXV or piston.
FixReplace filter-drier and TXV/piston. Recover and recharge by weight.
Safety

Pull the disconnect and lock out before opening HVAC equipment. Discharge dual-run capacitors before handling. Refrigerant recovery and brazing require EPA 608 certification and proper PPE.
