Oil Aging / Life

AirCompDX - Field Reference for Air Compressor Techs
All calculators
Formula
Life = Base × Duty × Env × 0.5^((T − Tref)/18°F)
Estimates remaining hours on the current oil charge from operating temperature, duty and environment. Optional oil-analysis inputs (TAN, viscosity change) override the model when readings say the oil is done.
Oil analysis (optional)
Change limits: TAN ≥ 2.5, viscosity shift ≥ ±15%.

Notes on PAO synthetic (poly-α-olefin)

Standard OEM-recommended synthetic.

Temperature rule: every ~18°F (10°C) above the oil's reference operating temperature halves service life (Arrhenius). Discharge temperature is measured at the pump discharge, not the receiver.
