Temperature rule: every ~18°F (10°C) above the oil's reference operating temperature halves service life (Arrhenius). Discharge temperature is measured at the pump discharge, not the receiver.

Frequently asked questions

How often should compressor oil be changed?
Mineral oil is commonly changed at 2,000 hours, standard synthetics at 4,000–8,000 hours; heat, humidity and dust all shorten those numbers.
How does temperature shorten oil life?
Oxidation roughly doubles for every 18 °F (10 °C) above the design temperature, so a machine running 20 °F hot loses about half its expected oil life.
What does oil analysis look for?
Viscosity change, acid number, oxidation, water content and wear metals — it is the only reliable way to safely extend a drain interval.
