- What is total external static pressure?
- The total resistance the blower sees, measured across the air handler including filter and coil. Most residential equipment is rated at 0.5 in w.c.
- How much static does a filter add?
- A clean 1 in pleated filter typically adds 0.1–0.2 in w.c.; a loaded filter can add far more and is a leading cause of low airflow.
- What equivalent length does a flex elbow add?
- A tight 90° in flex duct can add 40–75 ft of equivalent length — usually more than the entire straight run.
